this is the first time we'll be heading to the central station of Copenhagen.
took an early morning bus to the train station.
ahhh, this 'pond'.
that's how they wash it. haha.
but it's significant to me coz on the 2nd day of our trip at Aarhus, it was one of the warmest days thus far and we didn't bring water out.
mineral water are exp and we dont wanna waste any unnecessary money.
under the hot sun and aft a whole day of exploring the town, my legs were so tired and i was damn thirsty.
while waiting at the bus-stop opp this 'pond', i told meimei i was so thirsty, to the extend i feel like just drinking the water straight from the pond.
too inviting. lol.
it totally looked like a huge water-cooler to me then la! lol.
that aside, while walking towards the train station from the bus-stop, we saw these bowls and plates and got reminded of popo/gonggong! haha.
it's all too familiar. lol.
anw, it's gonna be a long 3-hr plus train ride to Copenhagen and hence, had to wake up early to catch the morning train.
reached the train station and perhaps because of the strong wind this morning, the streets look dirty.
wanted to make reservations for seats, but sadly, it's full!
we still boarded nevertheless and tried our luck.
found 2 empty seats and sat for abt half an hr.
after which, the seats were taken.
so we had to stand at the doors.
tt's meimei lol-ing coz she couldnt get the doors open.
i tried and it opened, and heh, this is our purpose: to snap a pic of the staff selling food on-board!
we had no seats.
don't have a choice, so we sat on the steps :/
moments later, a kind guy walked past and told us that we can try our luck at the other cabins ahead coz it's gonna take quite awhile before we reach Copenhagen.
so we heeded his advice and walked towards the other cabins ahead.
really lucky, coz we walked into the family-zone cabin and we actually found empty seats!
so glad!
plus, it's so awesome coz family-zone has babies and little children!
it's even more awesome when i felt alittle hand nudged me and when i turned over, i see an adorable ang moh boy!
too happy to be in the family-zone. lol.
that was his most natural smile/look.
this is when he knows we wanna capture a pic of him and he immediately turned shy. lol.
hello cutiepie! ^.^
when he walks back to his family, mei and i cont'd enjoying the view.
windmills, we see?!
oh, and the family next to us have really adorable kids too.
they're older, but adorable in their own ways!
this is the natural look of this ang moh boy.
but when he knows we were trying to get a pic of him, he 'posed'!
Lol. it's like the angsty look, but it's kinda adorable. hahaha!
and his shy sister who was shy all the way.
kept wanting to take a peek at us, while covering her own face! haha!
and even hide behind her dad.
aiyoooo, so shyyyyy!
finally reached Copenhagen Central Station after 3hrs plus journey.
a tourist place, hence, quite a packed station.
before we forget, hurry made seat reservations for our return journey before anything.
aft which, we wanted to head to the Tourists Information Centre.
apparently, by following the directions given on signboards, we were led out of the station.
spotted John's Hotdog Deli.
immediately got reminded of Johnjohn. haha.
and this caught our attention!
ok, mayb more of mei's attention.
right across the road, it's the Tivoli Gardens!
that's an amusement park!
did'nt have time today coz our aim was to visit the Little Mermaid.
but oh well, we've checked out the prices and may plan our schedules again for this!
meimei's mega excited for it! :'>
so anw, we didn't manage to find the Tourists Information Centre, so we walked back into the station and asked the train station staff for directions.
so glad for the Eurail pass that meimei bought for ourselves coz we get to travel on trains in Copenhagen too!
a different interior of the trains here.
followed the directions given by the staff at the train station, we arrived at Osterport.
funny little van that we spotted when we walked out of the station.
why are people here so artistic?!
they not only beautify walls with graffiti, they beautify their vans too. lol.
yup, at Osterport Station.
their fire engines here.
looks just like ours.
it's probably universal everywhere in the world eh. heh.
asked for directions again and was told to walk towards Den Lille Havfrue.
really glad when we found the sign.
we woke up like around 5am in the morning, prepared ourselves and whatnot.
but look at the time then; it's already 12.10pm.
we had to walk quite a distance.
so... pic-taking on the go :]
walked, walked, walked.
and we finally saw water!
omg, so happy coz it probably means we were near the Little Mermaid!
but because we're in Denmark, they have these green-black kind of statues almost everywhere.
don't know who/what is this statue, but it's seriously huge.
spot the tiny me on top.
see the comparison.
still no idea where is it, so we just roamed around on our own.
spotted some lady feeding the birds.
some things that people here will do.
touristy shot with the Denmark flag.
looked over the railings and saw this boat.
people inside seemed so cramped up and uncomfortable!
soon, we saw a group of tourists gathering at one area.
we approached the crowd and indeed, it's the Little Mermaid!
and because it's a tourist spot, there definitely will be souvenirs sold.
and they claim that it's :
oh well, we though it was just a statue. lol.
but people say it's a must-go to see the Little Mermaid when one's at Copenhagen!
it's an icon that rep Copenhagen.
oh well, so there we were.
go there, snap a few pics, and bye. lol.
and of course, there'll be people who will molest the Little Mermaid (as seen).
sighness.
it's the moment when the crowd just went 'OOOOOHHHHHH~!'
oh well, after squeezing with the crowd, we smelled something really nice!
walked towards the aroma and spotted a lady making sugar-roasted almonds!
we were alittle hungry(ok, more of just me), and so meimei didn't mind trying.
hence, we bought a packet :]
yay, happy with our buy :D
20KR(4.50SGD) for this small pack.
'but almonds are exp, so it's fine'; self-consoling. lol.
it was not bad.
meimei liked it, but i found it to be alittle too sweet.
meimei chatting with the seller.
and a pic with her :D
she's really small.
probably one of the few locals here who are shorter than us. haha.
so, aft seeing the Little Mermaid and got some pics taken, we hurriedly took the train back to Copenhagen Central Station, coz there was nothing else that we can do there.
they have really lots of trains and the interior are sometimes just different.
walked along the streets, in an attempt to find Stroget.
ahhhhh, Hard Rock Cafe!
I miss my boyfriend!
coz that's where he brought me to feast on my 20th birthday!
spotted another entrance of Tivoli Gardens.
took a pic of it with mei first, kjustk we dont have time to visit it.
and along the streets stood these people in pirates-outfits!
they are actually the staff of Hamleys Toy Shop and that is their gimmick to attract customers in.
yes, both of us fell for it.
we went in. haha.
they dont only sell toys.
they sell food and beverages too, such as coffee and ice-creams.
they have really adorable staff dressed up in different outfits, at their individual booths to promote their products.
it's like a mini USS.
but their products are really exp.
just like the pricing of items sold at USS gift shops.
at the cross road, we looked up and went, 'woah, what is this!? it looks so majestic!'
a closer pic of it.
we think it's a church.
pics with the majestic-looking building.
hate it when it's a bad-hair-day.
on a side-note, meimei and i were discussing about how macs here is not as crowded as the ones in SG.
probably because they have so many other options of breads here and the pricing at macs is comparable to other sandwiches/burgers elsewhere, hence, macs is not really a super-crowded fast-food restaurant here.
oh well, but they're like one of the strong players that manage to, i guess, penetrate almost all the countries in the world!?
amazing.
see, i told you they have lots of green/black statues all around.
coincidentally, it happened to be Copenhagen Fashion Week.
hence, the pile of clothes hanging on a humongous cube?
with sign boards like these placed randomly around the open-space.
not enough of the majestic building.
had to go closer for another shot. hehe.
there was this lady who was sitting on the ledge while waving a denmark flag.
when we went behind the ledge, purely wanting to just take a pic, she asked us if we wanted to borrow her flag. hahaha!
so yup, that's how we ended up with pics of us holding a denmark flag. lol.
another majestic-looking building nearby.
it's the Palace Hotel.
it's a hotel!
but totally doesnt look like one right.
and weird looking ornaments around.
I think children, esp small kids here, are really treated like royalty!
they have such cute carriages that they can sit in comfortably, while one of the parents cycle and bring them around.
rain or shine, only the cyclist will kena.
the kids will be protected coz they somehow will have a net-like thingy that can keep them sheltered!
so lucky la!
i wanna get one of these for my kid(s) next time too!
asked for directions, and finally, we found Stroget!
in Aarhus, they also have a Stroget, but it's smaller i think?
in Copenhagen, it's a popular tourist attraction in the centre of town and is also the longest pedestrian shopping area in Europe.
in here, we spotted 'The Oldest Glove Factory In The World'.
but how true is this man?
coz they just have so many signs/names that has 'in the world' at the back of it.
to the extend we become alittle dubious abt it. haha.
moving on, we spotted 'The Danish Pipe Shop'.
too cool.
coz who still uses this now!
really popular shop for wraps: Shawarma Grill House.
but we've tried the similar outlet at Aarhus and mei's getting sian of wrap.
so we're gonna give this a skip.
leopard prints balloons spotted.
too cool!
walked on and saw a souvenir store which has The Vikings stationed outside.
click on it if you want to know : what's a viking?
NewYorker.
i think it has a cool name, but clothes are not cheap in there.
i guess, the cheapest here we can find is H&M. lol.
the rest are really exp!
and randomly on the streets, time to time, you'll see cars driving past.
cool, white car.
but it's dangerous!
people are shopping and they just drive across.
they should just close the street and not allow cars to drive in!
i was wow-ed by the white car coz i think it's nice and cool.
meimei doesnt care much and contd shopping. lol.
further on, we saw BR-Legetøj!
it's a toy store and probably will get what nicololo wants, from there.
and as always, there'll be street performers who are really good.
selling art paintings on the floor?
random fruit stall on the street.
a gold man.
he's harmless and friendly.
a silver man.
he's evil and rough!
dont like him coz he really used the gun and bang my head!
the gun is hard one lor!
pain hor! hmph! :[
this is the ever-busy street of Stroget!
soon, we had to rush back to the train station to catch our train.
so we hurriedly bought something that we can eat on 3-hrs plus train back to Aarhus.
on the way back, we spotted this group of people who dressed up alittle differently from the others!
it's like a hen's night or something.
really damn cool.
so happening.
seems fun! :D
and it's really weird, but they have trains like these that travel on the streets AND on the roads!
these kind of setting reminds me of BKK.
lol, if only their prices are like those in BKK.
that was our day!
i'll abruptly end my post here!
check for more photos on my FB or when meimei uploads them! :']
